School Site Manager
Location: | Lubbins Park Primary Academy & Nursery Canvey Island, Essex, SS8 7HF |
Contract Type: | Full-time, permanent (37 hours per week 10am – 6pm) |
Annual leave entitlement: | 25 days, plus bank holidays |
Salary: | Point 13-17 £29,064 |

About the School

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated Site Manager to join our hardworking team.
About the Role
The Site Manager will oversee the effective management, upkeep, safety and security of the entire school site, helping to ensure that our buildings and grounds remain safe, welcoming and well-presented for pupils, staff and visitors. You will work closely with the school’s Senior Leadership Team and collaborate with the Trust Leadership Team and Trust Site Compliance Manager as needed to ensure all statutory requirements are fully met.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and general upkeep of the school buildings and grounds ensuring the school environment remains clean, safe and welcoming at all times.
- Carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks independently as required.
- Plan, supervise and liaise with external contractors for maintenance, repair, and improvement projects and ensure school security is maintained.
- Maintain security of the school buildings, grounds, and equipment, including key management.
- Assist in planning refurbishment or new building projects.
- Support waste management and recycling initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including health & safety, fire safety, legionella, asbestos management, and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and health & safety checks.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and site-related activities.
- Respond promptly to health & safety issues and emergencies.
- Ensure contractors comply with safeguarding and health and safety requirements.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of cleaning staff, including planning and overseeing holiday deep cleans.
- Assist with school events (e.g., setup for assemblies, fairs, or parents’ evenings)
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience working in a school environment and an understanding of the demands of a busy educational setting
- Be enthusiastic, proactive and committed to maintaining high standards
- Possess a good working knowledge of school health and safety requirements, including legionella and asbestos (training is available if required)
- Demonstrate dedication, a strong work ethic and take pride in their role
- Be friendly, professional and capable of building positive relationships with staff, pupils and visitors
- Be responsible, flexible and reliable
- Demonstrate best practice in the effective management of school premises
Skills and Experience Required
- Experience working in site management, facilities management, or caretaking in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations
- Basic IT skills, including the ability to use email, digital records, and school management systems.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team

We are now looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated HLTA to join our team. This role will primarily involve covering PPA time across the school but you will also have the opportunity to support teachers directly in the classroom, contributing to our pupils’ learning and growth.

- Experience in a similar role and a Level 4 HLTA qualification or equivalent.
- Ability to build strong, positive relationships with children and manage behaviour effectively
- Confidence to use your own initiative and contribute to lesson planning and preparation
